Science Fiction podcast

Welcome to the open access science fiction podcast! A while back, I discovered a motherlode of old science fiction books that are no longer under copyright. Most of these stories and books are from the late 1800s, early 1900s, through the 1960s. Some of the stories are vividly imaginative and engrossing. In some of the stories, I can see the prelude to some more modern scifi tropes. I thought it would be fun to record the stories I like the most and make them available to all of you.

Episode 6: The Putnam Tradition by Sonya Dorman
Through generations the power has descended, now weaker, now stronger. And which way did the power run in the four-year-old in the garden, playing with a pie plate?

Episode 2: Black Amazon of Mars by Leigh Brackett, part 1
This is a story set on Mars at some distant point in the future. Some aspects of this story strongly remind me of the Game of Thrones Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin. There are barbarians riding around the wastelands of Mars, hidden cities, walls of ice, creepy alien ice creatures, and magic. This story is pretty long so will be broken up into four sections. Here is the first installment where you meet the main character, Eric John Stark.

Episode 1: The Sound of Silence, by Barbara Constant
Is Lucky crazy? If not, why does she know what will happen before it happens, and have the best luck in the world? This episode is reminiscent of a Twilight Zone episode.
